What Next – Your Aged Care Application
It is never too early to start thinking about an aged care application.
Your first step is to ring MyAgedCare on 1800 200 422 or visit www.myagedcare.gov.au and begin the process. They will gather your relevant information and arrange a visit from the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT).
For to make an aged care application for permanent admission into Wenonah and to receive government assistance with care and accommodation costs, your income and assets will be assessed by the Department of Human Services or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
This assessment will be used to determine the costs you could be asked to pay and the amount of government assistance you will receive for your aged care costs and accommodation costs.

Fee Structure
Information about your aged care application and fees
As we are funded by the Commonwealth Government, we are required to charge fees as follows;
- Basic Daily Fee
- Means Tested Care Fee (Not applicable to Respite Residents)
- Accommodation Fee (Not applicable to Respite Residents)
Fees Explained
1.Basic Daily Fee
A Basic Daily Fee of $52.25 per day (as at 20/03/2020) is paid by all residents.
This equates to 85% of the pension.
2. Means Tested Care Fee
Care costs are subsidised by the government and residents with private income may be asked to contribute towards these costs. The Department of Human Services will determine if you are required to pay this fee based on an assessment of your income and assets.
3. Accommodation Fees
Some people will have their accommodation fees met in full or in part by the Australian Government, while others will need to pay the accommodation price agreed with Wenonah Lodge. The Department of Human Services will advise which applies to you based on an assessment of income and assets.
♦ Assets: Less Than $47,500
If you have assets less than $47,500 then you will be a “supported” resident and the government will subsidise the cost of your accommodation.
♦ Assets: $47,500 and $162,815
If your assets are between $47,500 and $162,815 then accommodation fees are payable in co-payment with the Commonwealth Government and will take the form of either a Refundable Accommodation Charge or a Daily Accommodation Charge or a Combination of the two. The amount depends on your asset level.
♦ Assets: Greater Than $162,815
If your assets are greater than $162,815 then accommodation fees are payable up to $250,000. You can choose how this is paid:
a) a lump sum called a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (DAP)
OR
b) a Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP)
OR
c) A combination of RAD and DAP
Our Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) is negotiated up to $250,000. The entire Refundable Accommodation Deposit is refunded to you or your estate on departure.
