We have a single Residential Respite Care room within out 25 room facility, which is made available for short term respite care for members of the community.
Residential Respite Care involves an elderly individual moving into Wenonah Lodge for a short period of time and enjoying all the services we offer, when their usual at home care arrangements are not available to them.
Residential Respite Care can be arranged as part of a planned stay or made available on an emergency basis. Such respite may occur if your regular carer is away, unwell or unable to provide care for any other reason. Once the need for Residential Respite care has passed, you will return home.
Residential Respite Care can be accessed for up to 63 days each financial year. This time can be extended in lots of 21 days if an assessment finds that extra time is required.
Access to Residential Respite Care
To access Residential Respite Care, you will first need a free assessment with a member of an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). This person will talk to you about your current situation and determine if you are eligible for residential respite care.
To arrange an assessment please call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422. If you are assessed as eligible, your assessor will work with you to find suitable respite services in your area. You can also call My Aged Care or look at the aged care homes service finder.
Once you have received ACAT approval for residential respite, you can contact your local Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre to access residential respite services on:

Residential Respite Care through Wenonah Lodge has a basic daily fee which consists of 85% of the pension.
